The Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) program provides funds to veterans with extreme disabilities resulting from time spent in the service. Since this grant is for service-connected disabilities only, most older veterans are not eligible. However, there is no time limit to apply for this grant.

Therefore, some individuals may be eligible if they have a service-connected disability that has progressively worsened with age and has eventually required them to use a wheelchair.

VA Specially Adapted Housing Grant

The grant helps build, renovate, or purchase a modified home that is easy to live in for veterans with disabilities. Veterans can also apply for various available home improvement and repair grants, including SAH, SHA, and HISA grants. Learn more about VA Adaptive Housing for Veterans.
